Nirav K. Shah, M.D. - Neurosurgeon

Doctor Nirav Shah practices neurological surgery with an emphasis on complex spinal surgery and intracranial tumor/radiosurgery at Princeton Brain and Spine Care.
Dr. Shah graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Pennsylvania State University where he completed an accelerated Bachelors-Medical Doctorate program. After graduation with Alpha Omega Alpha (medical equivalent to Phi Beta Kappa) honors from Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania he went on to complete his internship and five-year residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. While at the University of Maryland, Dr. Shah received specialized clinical training in planning and managing gamma knife cases and an extensive six-month rotation in neurotrauma. Further, at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Spine Center, Dr. Shah completed a six-month apprenticeship in complex spine surgery. He has continued special education in minimal access spinal technologies, neuronavigation, and disc arthroplasty.
Nirav Shah, M.D.’s clinical research has been published in many peer-review journals. Further, he has contributed chapters to textbooks and has presented his research at society meetings.
Most recently, Dr. Shah contributed a chapter to the medical textbook Cerebral Vasospasm published by Thieme Medical Publishers.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Shah believes strongly in serving the community and regularly gives his time to several organizations. He is an avid runner/jogger, who has participated in marathons, is a published poet, and enjoys sports including hiking, rugby, and sailing.
